Now that research is underway, it is important to contextualize it and narrow down to a few key research topics.
We like to structure this in terms of local policies and practices.
Policies are rules, regulations, stated guidelines, etc. from a government or private organization. These include items like school dress codes and driving speed limits.
Practices are what community members actually do, or how they behave. These include things like driving over the speed limit, and following the school dress code policy.
Before beginning research, make sure students understand what Policies and Practices are. We have a few great introduction activities to get the ball rolling.
